We seek and seek and seek for peace
Yet fall to war so easily.
Frustration’s fruits are rarely good
More often yield the juice of blood
Yet man will seek in every case
His fellow to frustrate
If in his mind he cannot see
The goodness of their state
Without a care of what he makes
In that frustrated mind
The wrath of vengeance festering
The curse of all mankind
So if we seek for peace we must
Listen to every man
And not just listen but hear,
Hear clear and understand.
Why do we value ignorance so high
When, in ignorance is fear
And in fear is bigotry
And in bigotry, hate
And in hate, war
And suffering, pain and death.
When all is said and done,
what is there left
But bayonet, bomb and gun
And if the bottom of the empty barrel
hold only this
Where do we turn to find serenity
peace and bliss
