Here am I
Clawing my way out of dark crevices
Needy, lost, denied.
Taught, long ago, to fear.
The fire in my belly doused
to mitigate the danger of burning.
The ember’s glowering anger
at that fire’s quenching
eats away, unnoticed, at my soul
Till there is nothing left.
Someone!
Feed me the fuel! Spark the light!
That I may blaze till the day I die.
Here. Am. I.
